Ambunu has been traditionally used in Africa. This is a tradition that has been making a comeback, after almost being forgotten. It was used in haircare, consumed in soups, or even to wash clothes.
Ambunu used to commonly be used by women to wash their scalp. It was also used to detangle their hair. Ambunu can be used as a hair cleanser, detangler, or leave in conditioner.
The benefits of Ambunu comparing it to other herbal shampoo like shikakai is that it is actually very slippery and can be used as a natural conditioner. This plant contains saponin which gives it it's ability to cleanse and it is an effective antioxidant, emollient, and may help reduce inflammation.
To use Ambunu you have to mix it with hot boiling water, let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes or until it becomes thick and slippery. You can then apply it on your hair, rub it in, detangle, and rinse or leave on.
You can have your kids enjoy hair wash days as they watch Ambunu turn from plain water to gooey detangler
